Agnes Hvizdalek: August 14th – October 31st, 2020
Agnes Hvizdalek is a singer and improvising musician originating from Austria and resident in Norway since 2008. From an early age, she has dedicated her life to new music and incorporates her fascination with the human voice in her abstract vocal music. Her unconventional educational path took her everywhere around the phenomena of organized sound, from Cultural Anthropology, Musicology and Phonetics to Project Management and Leadership. She attended jazz-singing classes and courses about composition, improvised and contemporary music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and learned a lot via collaborations, by teaching and facilitating creative processes for others.
The Project:
During her stay, Agnes will finalize her new solo album that she recorded during her residency at Hellerau — European Centre for the Arts in March and April 2020. From August 2020 to March 2021 she is participating in the mentoring program Ung Komponist of Borealis — festival for experimental music in Bergen, Norway. For the first time, she will compose music to be performed by others. The early music ensemble Currentes will premiere that piece as part of the festival in March.
